Is Liberty Township a city?

No. Liberty Township is a township in Butler County, so there is no local income tax where you live. You still pay income tax to the city where you work, the same as anyone in Ohio, and people who work in the township's business district around the Liberty Way interchange pay 1.5% there.

Homes here can have a Liberty Township, Hamilton, Middletown, Monroe or West Chester mailing address, and the City of Monroe next door has its own taxes and schools. Check the township and school district for every house with the Butler County Auditor.

What does a house cost in Liberty Township?

The median sale over the summer of 2026 was about $530,000, the highest of the areas I cover north of the city, and homes took about six weeks to sell. Prices rose about 9% from a year earlier, with about 140 homes selling in August alone, so that number rests on plenty of sales.

The reason is mostly the houses themselves: about nine homes in ten are single-family houses, and the median one was built in 2001. If you want Lakota with an older, lower-priced house, compare West Chester, where the summer median was about $420,000.

Which Liberty Township neighborhoods should I look at?

There are a lot of choices; these are a few I show often.

  • Four Bridges, a golf community off Butler Warren Road with a clubhouse, pools and tennis, and condos, maintenance-free homes and single-family houses. I love it mostly for the location, close to I-75 and Liberty Center. Golf membership is separate from the HOA fees.
  • Wynds of Liberty and Snow Hill. Snow Hill was built in the 1980s and 1990s around a ski theme, with streets such as Breckenridge and Mogul; Wynds of Liberty is the newer section, with larger homes and many three-car garages. Fewer amenities mean low HOA fees, or none.
  • Carriage Hill, a large planned community and the 2014 Homearama site, with patio homes up front, then maintenance-free, custom and semi-custom sections. It has a pool and clubhouse with a fire pit, a dog park, miles of paved paths and ponds, and it is close to Bridgewater Falls shopping and State Route 129. To me it is the pinnacle of the area.

My neighborhood drive video below shows them, along with Wetherington, Treillage and other neighborhoods nearby in the Lakota district.

Which school district is a Liberty Township address in?

Most of the township is in Lakota Local Schools, which covers Liberty and West Chester Townships and is one of the largest districts in Ohio. Lakota has two high schools, Lakota East and Lakota West. Because the mailing addresses here vary so much, confirm the district for the exact house with the Butler County Auditor, and compare districts on the Ohio School Report Card.

What is there to do in Liberty Township?

  • Liberty Center, an open-air shopping, dining and entertainment center by the I-75 Liberty Way exit, opened in 2015.
  • A medical corridor along I-75 and Route 129, with Cincinnati Children's Liberty Campus and The Christ Hospital's Liberty Township campus.
  • Bridgewater Falls shopping on Route 129 just west in Fairfield Township.
  • Voice of America MetroPark and Union Centre, a few minutes south in West Chester.

How is the traffic and the commute?

About 40 minutes to downtown Cincinnati and 45 minutes to Dayton on I-75 without traffic. With all the growth comes congestion: expect backups near Liberty Center, on I-75, and at Tylersville Road and Union Centre in West Chester at rush hour and on busy holiday weekends. Most neighborhoods are suburban, so plan on a car for errands, and drive your commute at the hour you would really make it.
