Living in Montgomery, Ohio: homes, prices and straight answers
Montgomery has a historic downtown, Sycamore schools throughout, and some of the highest prices I sell outside Indian Hill. Homes sold for a median of about $799,000 this summer, pulled up by new homes built where older ones were torn down. Downtown Cincinnati is about 25 minutes away.

What is the Montgomery Heritage District?
Montgomery's historic downtown along Montgomery Road, with shops, restaurants and buildings from the early 1800s. Landmarks include Yost Tavern from about 1805 and the Universalist Church from 1837. At the south end, Montgomery Quarter added Hotel Rambler and new restaurants, and the Montgomery Farmers Market runs Saturday mornings from May through October.
Why are Montgomery prices so high?
Because so many older houses on good lots have been torn down and replaced with much larger new homes. Many Montgomery houses date from the 1950s to the 1970s, and buyers and builders have been rebuilding on those lots for years, so a small original ranch can sit next to a new house worth several times as much. That pulls the median up. There are still condos and original homes well below the median; tell me your budget and I will show you what it buys.
