Is Springboro closer to Dayton or Cincinnati?

Dayton: about 25 minutes to downtown Dayton, and about 55 minutes to downtown Cincinnati, both on I-75 without traffic. Most of the city is in Warren County, with a small northern piece in Montgomery County. That makes it a good fit when one job is in Dayton and the other is in the northern Cincinnati suburbs.

What is there to do in Springboro?

  • Historic downtown on South Main Street, founded in 1815. The historical society runs an Underground Railroad walking tour; the city counts 27 documented safe-house sites.
  • Wright Station next to downtown, with the Springboro Performing Arts Center, Warped Wing brewery and free summer concerts.
  • Clearcreek Park, 137 acres of fields and a paved trail, one of nine city parks.
  • Heatherwoode Golf Club, a city-owned public course.
  • Austin Landing, just over the line in Miami Township: shops, restaurants and offices at I-75 and Austin Boulevard.
  • Dorothy Lane Market. Get the brownies.

What kinds of homes are in Springboro?

Mostly single-family houses from the 1990s and 2000s, in planned subdivisions. About 86% of Springboro homes are single-family houses and only about 3% were built before 1940, so if you want an older home with character, the few streets around downtown are where to look.

New construction continues on the edges of town. M/I Homes' Bailey Farm starts around $390,000 and has a ranch-only section, and Fischer's Wadestone and Dayton-area custom builders go well above that.

What does a house near Austin Landing cost?

Less than most people expect. In my newest video I walk through a Miamisburg house a few minutes from Austin Landing's restaurants and shops, and what it sold for. Austin Landing sits right where Springboro, Miamisburg and Miami Township meet, so you can compare all three in one afternoon.

How does the Springboro city income tax work?

Residents pay 1.5% on earned income, with credit of up to 1% for tax paid to the city where they work. The city points out it has not raised the rate in 36 years. Property taxes depend on the school district and levies at each address; look any address up with the Warren County Auditor, or the Montgomery County Auditor for the northern edge.
